ANDREW HUNT DIRECTOR
Andrew’s interest and experience in economics developed during his time living in Liverpool and South Yorkshire, and he studied the subject at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has worked on the Labour Party’s Regional Policy Commission, at senior levels with local and central government, and at Ernst & Young and the CBI.
Andrew and Tom Dobson ran the economic development arm of the Greater London Enterprise before co-founding Hunt Dobson Stringer, where he leads on economic impact analysis and modelling.
Career History
After working on the Labour Party’s Regional Policy Commission, and at Ernst & Young, the CBI, and Greater London Enterprise, Andrew co-founded Hunt Dobson Stringer in 2002.

BARNEY STRINGER DIRECTOR
As one of a long line of urban planners, it was perhaps inevitable that Barney would return to transport, planning and urban regeneration, after training in science.
His career has taken him through the public and private sectors, journalism, politics, lobbying and regeneration. At the CBI he worked alongside Andrew Hunt, and later joined him and Tom Dobson to form Hunt Dobson Stringer. He now combines his technical background and award-winning writing skills to support a wide variety of clients.
Career History
After working in journalism and research, Barney had senior infrastructure and development roles at the CBI and London Development Agency before joining Hunt Dobson Stringer in 2004.

TOM DOBSON DIRECTOR
A born Londoner, Tom has always been fascinated by urban development, which he studied at university. Later, he worked on a range of strategic local Government projects, including the South Bank re-development.
At Greater London Enterprise, he helped clients establish major regeneration programmes and worked with Andrew Hunt on Paddington Basin. In 2002, they formed Hunt Dobson Stringer, where Tom advises major property companies on the regeneration and social aspects of major developments, and public sector clients on area-based regeneration.
Career History
From local government, Tom moved to Greater London Enterprise, advising clients on strategic regeneration projects. At Hunt Dobson Stringer he helps major clients and public agencies develop successful mixed-use communities.
Qualifications
ALEX LONG SENIOR CONSULTANT
Alex joined Hunt Dobson Stringer in 2005 having studied Commerce at university.
He is especially focused on the interaction between policy and the economic and commercial viability of schemes, and has worked on many Section 106 negotiations for major developments including the Lincoln Western Growth Corridor and Canada Water.
Alex has also developed a particular expertise in Health Impact Assessments on major London developments along with economic impact assessments of transport schemes across the country.
Career History
Following a year working in operations management in automotive manufacturing and ongoing placement work at HDS, Alex moved to London and joined HDS permanently in 2005.

JOANNA BRAIN SENIOR CONSULTANT
Jo worked alongside Andrew Hunt and Tom Dobson at Greater London Enterprise in 2001, in the placement year of her Business degree. Here she developed an interest in regeneration and the social and economic benefits of development.
She has a lead role in implementing planning obligations on schemes such as Stratford City. She advises on community facilities in masterplanning development and provides economic analysis for public sector regeneration including Brent Cross/Cricklewood and the LDA’s Area Programme Review. Jo also specialises in using GIS mapping for statistical analysis.
Career History
Jo worked at Greater London Enterprise before joining Hunt Dobson Stringer in 2004.

VICKY THOMAS CONSULTANT
Vicky worked part-time at HDS while studying for her RTPI-accredited International Planning MSc at UCL, and joined us full-time in October 2006. She has worked on a range of projects, including Brent Cross/Cricklewood, Wembley and Crystal Palace Park.
Vicky is responsible for profiling baseline socio-economic conditions, policy reviews and impact assessments. She studied the rise of professional planning for her History degree, and has developed a detailed understanding of the impacts of development in both urban and rural settings.
Career History
Vicky worked part-time at Hunt Dobson Stringer before joining permanently in 2006.

ELVA PHELAN CONSULTANT
Elva joined HDS in 2007 following an internship with CABE. Elva developed a particular interest in public space and much of her area of focus lies on open space quality and requirements. Work with HDS involves auditing of open space provision and carrying out policy reviews of the spatial components of mayoral strategies.
Career History
Following an internship with CABE, working on issues relating to sustainable development, climate change and the built environment, Elva joined Hunt Dobson Stringer in 2007.

FARAN COWLING CONSULTANT
Faran joined us in 2007, bringing experience as a property consultant, having worked identifying and researching planning opportunities for changes of use in sites in London. He also has experience of the role of community consultation in estate regeneration.
Career History
After a period working as a consultant for the property arm of Oak Financial Services, Faran joined HDS in 2007.
Qualifications
MIKE HUMPHREY CONSULTANT
Mike joined us in 2007 having worked on Geographical Information Systems and the Planning Portal at a Local Planning Authority in Kent. He has a particular interest in the use of mapping in socio-economic and environmental applications – skills which he has put to good use at HDS.
Career History
Following a short spell working in public sector planning, Mike joined HDS in 2007.
